WVPA assisting with Bridge Day credentials

FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — The West Virginia Press Association is working with the organizers of Bridge Day this year to help communicate media pass information to newspapers intending to cover the exciting event.

As many of you know, Bridge Day is the annual one-day festival held on the New River Gorge Bridge in Fayetteville. This year marks the festival’s 35th anniversary.

Since 9/11, security has been tightened at the event and members of the media are required to undergo a security check prior to obtaining their media credentials. With the event just more than a month away, now is the time to start requesting those passes.

You can find guidelines on the proper information required for media pass requests below:

Per the Bridge Day Commission:

Members of the media, please assist us in getting you a Bridge Day Media pass! Take time to consider the following requirements/requests and remember, the earlier the better!

• Request for media pass must be made in writing on business or company letterhead.

• Any special vehicles such as satellite trucks or other equipment must have a vehicle permit. All vehicle permits will be subject to approval by the Security Committee. Personnel with regular vehicles will be required to park and ride the shuttles.

• All personnel—with special access to points on the shuttle, bridge and in the gorge must submit the following information:
1.Name
2.Home address
3.Date of Birth
4.Social Security Number
5.Email address

B-Roll and Photo DVD’s will be available on site or for preview stories by contacting [email protected].

Credentials will be available for pickup at 310 Oyler Avenue in Oak Hill on Friday, October 17 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or at the Bridge Day tent on the south side of the bridge on Saturday, October 18.

You may submit information to either:
