BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — The Bluefield Daily Telegraph, an award-winning newspaper, has an opening for a general assignment reporter for its print/multimedia operations.

“The newspaper is looking for a reporter who thrives in a fast-paced newsroom and is comfortable covering crime, court and community events. The ideal candidate will be adept at covering breaking news as well as writing in-depth, feature stories. We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic reporter who has a passion for news and is skilled at cultivating sources and generating story ideas. Strong writing and reporting skills required. Photography skills are a plus,” said editor Samantha Perry. “Although some experience is preferred, we will train the right candidate. Successful candidates must be highly motivated and have a degree in journalism, communications, English or related field.”

The Bluefield Daily Telegraph is a seven-day morning newspaper with a strong digital and social media presence. Located in Bluefield, W.Va., the Daily Telegraph has a coverage area that extends across southern West Virginia and Southwest Virginia. The region is renowned for its natural beauty and boasts an abundance of outdoor recreational activities.

This is a full-time position that requires evening and weekend shifts. The position offers a competitive benefits package. Salary commensurate with experience.

Successful candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, journalism, communications or related field,” editor Samantha Perry said. “Excellent knowledge of graphic design, grammar and the English language a must. Adobe InDesign experience preferred. POSTED FEB. 26 2018: REPORTER – HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Herald-Dispatch of Huntington, W.Va., a daily newspaper located in a city of about 50,000, is seeking a motivated reporter to cover breaking news, crime and community events during evening hours Tuesday through Saturday.

The position requires good reporting and writing skills and flexibility to deal with deadline pressures. Opportunities for some feature writing and mid-level enterprise also exist. Some experience preferred, as well as a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

POSTED Nov. 27, 2017: The Inter-Mountain, a six-day daily newspaper with offices located in Elkins and Buckhannon, WV, is seeking an outgoing person to manage and grow newspaper sales.
Our Circulation Director has a team of two District Sales Managers and a Clerk in our 8 county region of beautiful North-Central West Virginia. You will be responsible for the acquisition of new home delivery customers through telesales, neighborhood canvassing and independent contractors. Other responsibilities include monitoring existing retail outlets and coming up with new locations for distribution. The highly self-motivated person we are seeking will have flexible working hours. Our scenic region is known for great hunting, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, skiing and many other outdoor activities. Our ideal candidate will have great communication skills, computer knowledge in Excel and Word and sales experience. Must have a valid driver’s license, management experience preferred and a minimum of three years experience working in a newspaper circulation department.
Position includes a base salary, 401K and full benefits package available.
