CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Vandalia Health received recognition in Newsweek’s America’s Best-in-State Hospitals, with CAMC Plateau Medical Center (PMC) and Mon Health Medical Center ranking among the best in West Virginia.
Along with the recognition, CAMC PMC also received the Patient Satisfaction Award. This award highlights hospitals with outstanding performance from collected surveys on patient experience.
“The hospitals of Vandalia Health are focused on how to best meet the needs of patients and communities,” said Dave Ramsey, Vandalia Health president and CEO. “These recognitions are proof of our outstanding programs, clinicians, outcomes and collaborations.”
In its inaugural year, Newsweek and Statista Inc., a global data and business intelligence platform, recognized 600 leading hospitals nationwide to help patients find the best care in each state. Hospitals from all US states were eligible for the ranking and included in the nationwide survey. The rankings were based on four data sources:
- Nationwide online survey of tens of thousands of health care professionals that were asked to recommend the best hospitals (in and out of state) based on their expertise.
- Hospital quality metrics from Medicare and Medicaid Services were available for mortality, safety, readmission, experience and timely and effective care.
- Publicly available data from hospital surveys of patient experience during their hospitalizations such as cleanliness, communication from providers, care transition, communication about medication, discharge information, quietness and staff responsiveness.
- Results from Newsweek and Statista’s Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) Implementation survey that determined the status quo of PROMs implementation, audits and reporting of data and whether the PROMs data is used to optimize the care process and support therapeutic real-time decision-making.
The awards list was announced on Oct. 25, 2023, and can be viewed on Newsweek’s website.
