MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — The West Virginia Secretary of State’s new Eastern Panhandle business hub is now open for business.

Located at Caperton Station at 229 East Martin Street, the hub opened earlier this month. It will serve as a satellite location for the WVSOS’s Business and Licensing Division.

The hub offers the same business services as the WVSOS’s main office in Charleston. Businesses can file annual reports or update filings, while new businesses can register for the first time.

The 108,473 businesses registered and or licensed to operate in the state must file an annual report to the WVSOS office. In addition, more than 41,000 notary publics are registered through the WVSOS. There are also special provisions in State Code for the registration of private investigators, scrap metal dealers, public finance lenders and those who perform marriages.

During elections, candidates can file in person at the hub office to run for the House of Delegates, state Senate, Circuit Court Judge, Family Law Judge, Commissioner of Agriculture, State Treasurer, State Auditor, Secretary of State, and Governor.

The hub is staffed by business and licensing specialists Lexi Brown and Tony Gress.

In addition, WVSOS field representative Darrell Shull — who serves as a service representative for Pendleton, Grant, Hardy, Mineral, Hampshire, Morgan, Berkeley and Jefferson counties — will work out of the office.

A grand opening ceremony will be held at the WVSOS hub office in November, officials said.
