The News Tribune in Keyser searching for Sports Editor

KEYSER, W.Va. — The News Tribune, a 100-year-old hometown daily print and digital news service operating in picturesque Keyser, W.Va.,  has an immediate need for a hands-on experienced, creative, energetic Sports Editor who understands the importance of covering the hometown teams as if they were the “big leagues.”
Editor Liz Beavers said, “The News Tribune covers two area high schools extensively and a third when time allows, in all the major sports. While the ‘Friday Night Lights’ are sacred here, we do also recognize the importance of all sports to our area student athletes and their fans!”
The Sports Editor also coordinates one or two paid stringers as well as submissions from area coaches for youth leagues, bowling, golf and more. He or she must also be ready to “pitch in” and be a team player with other news projects during sports “down time.”
Experience is required in InDesign page layout and preferred in photography, video and digital. Tech savvy a plus.
This is a full-time position with benefits, but hours depend upon the events to be covered. Some evenings and weekends are required.
