CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The media is invited to cover this event on August 13 but the time may fluctuate with delivery of the tree and its planting.

The West Virginia Nursery & Landscape Association (WVNLA) is donating a sugar maple tree to replace an aging oak tree on the West Virginia State Capitol grounds. The sugar maple tree will be delivered at noon Wednesday, August 13, 2025, and planted that afternoon by the state Capitol grounds crew shortly after its arrival at 312 Michigan Avenue.

Julie Robinson, executive director of WVNLA, will be on-site as will other regional members of the WVNLA board of directors.

Members of the media may want to call Julie Robinson to get a sense of the timing of the tree planting.

The oak tree being replaced was damaged by storms this spring.
