Martin Hall Agency wins three student advertising awards from West Virginia chapter of American Advertising Federation

Release from The Martin Hall Agency:

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.—The Martin Hall Agency (MHA) was awarded three student advertising awards (ADDYs) from the West Virginia chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF). The ADDY Awards recognize agency professionals and college students who have created outstanding work in creative advertising.

MHA earned a student Gold ADDY Award for a cross platform integrated brand identity campaign for the Timber Safe Logging Safety ad campaign completed during the spring 2020 and fall 2020 semesters. The campaign consisted of a digital promotional ad, an informational recruitment video, a series of 16 Timber Safe safety slogan stickers, and two public service announcements, one targeting family members, one targeting loggers. A campaign book and an implementation plan was included with all campaign materials.

Defined by the AAF, a Gold ADDY is recognition of the highest level of creative excellence and is judged to be superior to all other entries in the category. Entries that are also considered outstanding and worthy of recognition receive a Silver ADDY. MHA earned two Silver ADDYs: one student Silver ADDY Award for elements of advertising, art direction and another student Silver ADDY Award for elements of advertising in film, video, sound and cinematography. Both silver ADDYs were awarded for a video campaign which included a digital promotional ad and an informational recruitment video. Of special note, the Silver ADDY for art direction was awarded to Jeffrey Boggess, a Reed College of Media December 2020 graduate.

MHA team members, who are Reed College of Media students majoring in advertising and public relations, from the spring and fall 2020 semesters contributed to the creation of the overall campaign. SeVohn Hunter and Ana O’Brien served as the executive directors for the spring 2020 semester. Victoria Price and Yadara Luckett served as the executive directors for the fall 2020 semester. All work was completed under the direction of Jennifer L. Harker, Ph.D., assistant professor of strategic communication in the Reed College of Media.

All three of these state-level advertising awards were generously forwarded by the national AAF office to compete in the AAF District 5 ADDYs competition. AAF District 5 consists of Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia.
