Overall, West Virginia’s education system received good news this past week when state Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve Paine announced that the four-year graduation rate had improved to 90.2 percent.
That’s an increase of about 1 percent from the year before and continues a trend since 2010 that has seen graduation numbers improve or remain relatively flat.
Paine told the state Board of Education that the 90.2 percent figure would rank West Virginia third in the country in terms of graduation rate. …
