Editorial: Hatfield-McCoy Trail in W.Va. is not closing

From the Bluefield Daily Telegraph:

After a few weeks of uncertainty, we now know that the Hatfield-McCoy Trail in Mercer County will not be closing. The trail will continue to operate as normal. The trail authority has successfully negotiated an agreement with a coal company that will be mining in the area.

There will be no temporary closure of the Pocahontas ATV trail and no disruption to the 2019 riding season. Area ATV resorts, lodges and campgrounds can continue booking guests.

The message to ATV tourists across the country is simple. The Pocahontas ATV trail in Mercer County is still open for business. For their part, ATV tourists haven’t been deterred by the confusing headlines as of late.

According to Bramwell Mayor Louise Stoker, it’s been one of the busiest winters ever on the Hatfield-McCoy Trail. …
