OAK HILL — Grab your leash and lace up your running shoes—Dog Days of Spring is back at ACE Adventure Resort this Saturday, May 9, bringing a full day of tail-wagging fun, outdoor adventure, and pet-friendly excitement to the New River Gorge.
Headlining the day’s festivities is the Bark Bash 5K Run, a scenic, dog-friendly race inviting participants and their four-legged companions to hit the trails together. Whether you’re a competitive runner or just looking for a casual stroll with your pup, the event is designed for all fitness levels and promises stunning views and a lively post-race celebration.
Dog Days of Spring is more than just a race—it’s a full-scale celebration of dogs, community, and the great outdoors. Guests can enjoy a wide variety of activities throughout the day, including pet adoption opportunities with New River Animal Rescue, hands-on training sessions led by professional dog trainers, doggie yoga, guided hikes, and a vendor village featuring pet gear, treats, and accessories.
One of the event’s highlights is the chance to connect with adoptable animals and support local rescue efforts, while also learning new skills to strengthen the bond between dogs and their owners.
The Bark Bash 5K kicks off Saturday morning with check-in beginning at 8:00 AM and the race starting at 10:00 AM. Registration includes a commemorative race medal, event T-shirt (for early registrants), post-run food, and even free camping Saturday night at the resort.
Beyond the race, attendees can enjoy activities like “Paint Your Pet,” where participants create custom artwork of their furry friend, along with food, drinks, and plenty of space to relax and play in ACE’s scenic mountain setting.
Set in the heart of the New River Gorge, Dog Days of Spring offers a unique opportunity to combine outdoor recreation with a community-focused, pet-friendly festival atmosphere. From running trails to socializing with fellow dog lovers, it’s a perfect way to celebrate spring in West Virginia.
Dog owners, animal lovers, and outdoor enthusiasts alike are invited to join the fun and make memories with their furry companions.
