Current West Virginia Board of Public Works members voice support for term limits

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WV News) — Current members of the state Board of Public Works voiced support for imposing term limits for their positions during a virtual press conference Wednesday afternoon.

Secretary of State Mac Warner, Treasurer Riley Moore, Auditor J.B. McCuskey and Agriculture Commissioner Kent Leonhardt joined West Virginia Senate Majority Whip Ryan Weld in support of Senate Joint Resolution 11.

If passed, the measure would ask the state’s voters to weigh in on support for a constitutional amendment limiting any individual serving as secretary of state, auditor, treasurer, commissioner of agriculture or attorney general to three consecutive terms.

“We’ve come here as a collective group to say that we are tired of the policies of the past and having individuals sit in these offices for decades upon decades,” Moore said. “We think this is the best way forward in terms of governance, transparency and accountability here in the state of West Virginia, is to finally bring term limits to the constitutional offices.” …
