“I ask that you join me in thanking those who are serving far away from home and loved ones this holiday season. Their sacrifices enable us to enjoy the freedoms we cherish, and we must keep these brave men and women in our thoughts and prayers.”
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) today issued a video statement wishing West Virginians a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Hello and Merry Christmas!
During this time of year, it is customary for family and friends to gather together and reflect on the year that has passed.
As I reflect on my first year in the United States Senate, I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve West Virginia and proud of the work we have accomplished.
From education reform, to a highway bill, to funding our nation’s military – the Republican-led Senate is off to a strong start.
I look forward to building on this year’s accomplishments as we create new opportunities for our state in 2016.
I ask that you join me in thanking those who are serving far away from home and loved ones this holiday season.
Their sacrifices enable us to enjoy the freedoms we cherish, and we must keep these brave men and women in our thoughts and prayers.
I wish all West Virginians a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!
