CAMC’s Mini Medical School for the public to discuss Diabetes Basics 101

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The public is invited to CAMC’s Mini Medical School: Diabetes Basics 101.

According to The American Diabetes Association, about 223,338 people in West Virginia – or 15.7% of the adult population – have diagnosed diabetes. An additional 45,000 people in West Virginia have diabetes but don’t know it yet, which greatly increases their health risk.

Join CAMC for this FREE community event as experts in the field speak on the basics of diabetes, both risks and causes of the disease, and prevention techniques that include information on healthy eating habits.

The Mini Medical School will take place on Thursday, April 25, at the CAMC Center for Learning and Academic Medicine, 3044 Chesterfield Avenue.

There will be FREE parking.

Displays and refreshments will be available from 5:30 to 6 pm. Displays include information from the CAMC Foundation, CAMC Volunteer Services, the Cancer Center Resource Center, CAMC Telemedicine, along with social workers who will be on site to help with advanced medical directives.

Program, Question & Answer will take place from 6 to 8 pm.
