MARIETTA, Ohio — The Blues, Jazz and Folk Music Society will hold its 27th annual River City Ohio Blues Competition this year, but with a change.

Parkersburg News and Sentinel file photo — The band Roadhouse Redeemed of Columbus was the winner of last year’s River City Blues Competition in Marietta. This year’s blues competition has returned to its original format and will be part of the River City Blues Festival in March instead of its own event in February.

In previous years, the competition was held in February and was followed in March by the annual River City Ohio Blues Festival.

This year, the two events are being combined by organizers. Regional blues acts will compete on the Saturday of the 28th annual Blues Festival on March 16, from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m.
