5K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Fun Trot to benefit local food pantry and Thanksgiving Day meal program

BELINGTON, W.Va. — Barbour Community Health Association (BCHA) invites you to kick off November by burning off that Halloween candy while helping your community.
BCHA will host its 14th annual Turkey Trot on Saturday, November 1, at Belington Wellness Center, 70 Sturmer St., Belington, W.Va., next to the Belington Medical Clinic. Race day check-in and registration will open at 7:45 a.m. The Turkey Trot officially begins at 9 a.m.
Participants can choose between a 5K Run/Walk or a 1-Mile Fun Trot walk.
This family-friendly event offers an opportunity to “gobble, gallop, and give thanks.” All proceeds will benefit the Heart & Hand House food pantry and the Belington Presbyterian Church’s Thanksgiving Day meal program, which feeds more than 400 people each year.
As in years past, Barbour Community Health Association is matching every dollar raised through the Turkey Trot event, doubling the impact for community organizations.
Eric Ruf, CEO of Barbour Community Health Association, expressed his excitement about the event, “The Turkey Trot is a great way for individuals and families to come together for a fun, healthy activity while making a significant impact on the lives of others. The funds raised this year will go directly to the Heart and Hand House Food Pantry and help feed more than 400 people during the Belington Presbyterian Church’s annual Thanksgiving Day meal. We are honored to continue this tradition and to support our community in such a meaningful way.”
The entry fee is $25. Those who register by Wednesday, October 15, will receive a race t-shirt. Medals will be awarded to males and females placing first, second, or third in their age group in the 5K.
Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite fall or turkey-themed costume, take pictures, and, most of all, have fun!
BCHA is also collecting canned goods or non-perishable food items, which can be donated on the day of the race or dropped off at any Barbour Community Health location anytime through noon on Saturday, November 1.
“The Turkey Trot brings our neighbors together for a morning of movement and gratitude, and once again this year we’re excited to welcome families, first-timers, and seasoned runners alike,” said Kim Bolton, Belington Wellness Center Manager. “This is a truly special event, as every registration helps put food on tables right here in our community.”
