2021 WVPA Legislative Lookahead zoom series continues today

CHARLESTON, W.VA. — The 2021 WVPA Legislative Lookahead continues today with panels on the West Virginia House of Delegates and Education in West Virginia.

The 2021 event is a series of one-hour zoom meetings. The meeting are hosted by the West Virginia Press Association with partnership support from AARP WV, West Virginia University News and Information, and the West Virginia Press Association Foundation.

On Tuesday, media from across West Virginia gathered virtually for a panel with the leadership of the West Virginia State Senate.

Senate President Craig Blair and members of his Senate leadership team including Senators Rollan Roberts, Ryan Weld, Patricia Rucker and Mark Maynard spoke about priorities for the 2021 legislative session. The minority caucus was represented by Senate Minority Leader Stephen Baldwin and Senator Richard Lindsay.

On Wednesday, WV Press will host two zoom meetings.

House of Delegates Panel: Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m.: House of Delegates Speaker Roger Hanshaw and Delegates Amy Summers and Paul Espinosa; Minority Leader Delegate Doug Skaff and Delegate Sean Hornbuckle

Education Issues: Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 3 p.m.: Higher Education Policy Commission Chancellor Sarah Tucker; State Department of Education Superintendent Clayton Burch; Fairmont State University President Mirta Martin; and Bonny Copenhaver, president of New River Community and Technical College.
