BECKLEY, W.Va. — U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito will continue to serve on three Senate committees along with a new assignment of the Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation.
She will continue serving on the U.S. Senate Committees on Appropriations, Environment and Public Works, and Rules and Administration.
Capito was chairwoman of the appropriation committee’s legislative branch subcommittee during the 114th Congress and said she is expected to continue to lead an appropriations subcommittee in the 115th Congress.
In the Environment and Public Works committee, she wants to advocate for policies specifically addressing jobs in West Virginia’s energy and manufacturing sector. She also wants to encourage investment in the state’s highway infrastructure along with “overreaching EPA regulations.”
“From repealing burdensome EPA regulations to advancing critical infrastructure and broadband access, these committee assignments place me in a strong position to continue fighting for West Virginia in the Senate,” Capito said in a news release.
“I am honored to join the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, where I will have a more powerful voice on telecom issues, and I am very glad to continue having an influence over our nation’s spending priorities on the Appropriations Committee.”
