CHARLESTON, W.Va. — In May, Americans collectively scratched their heads as they watched Donald Trump’s long, discombobulated speech wherein he accused Mexican immigrants of being rapists and murderers, proposed building a “big, beautiful wall” to keep those immigrants out of America and announced he was running for President of the United States. Surely he wasn’t serious.
Just 10 months ago, it seemed unlikely that Trump, a boisterous real estate mogul seemingly unable to control his emotions, would become the leading candidate for the Republican nomination. But here we are with just four months until the nominating conventions and Trump is first place in the polls, has a growing pool of fiercely loyal supporters and has won several primaries and caucuses.
That’s concerning, to say the least.
