BECKLEY, W.Va. — Like Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., we think it’s time for a treatment fee — yes, a tax, if you want to call it that — on opioid drugs.
We know we have a problem in the U.S. with prescription drug overdose resulting in death, and it is particularly acute here in West Virginia.
We also know we have a problem with getting Republicans to sign on to any kind of tax – new or old.
But we think Sen. Manchin has come up with an idea that deserves support from across the political aisle.
The statistics are both sobering and staggering…
