Reserve judgment on Obama visit until we hear him

An editorial from The Register-Herald

BECKLEY, W.Va. — Count us among those surprised when it was announced that President Barack Obama would be visiting West Virginia this week.

The man gets daily press briefings, so he must know that not too many state residents are fans, blaming him and his Environmental Protection Agency for the current ill state of coal mining.

Unless he’s coming to announce a rollback of the Clean Coal Power initiative, many are left wondering why in the world he would step foot in West Virginia.

And so we ask the many naysayers to give him a chance when he comes to Charleston Wednesday to address that issue…
