Accompanied by cardboard cutouts of the performers, Greenbrier Resort owner Jim Justice announces Tuesday that entertainers Jimmy Buffett and Maroon 5 will be the headline acts at the Greenbrier Classic Concert Series July 4 and 5.
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — Where is Margaritaville? This July, it will be right in the heart of Greenbrier County.
Jim Justice, the chairman and CEO of The Greenbrier, announced Tuesday that Jimmy Buffett will headline one of the two concerts during The Greenbrier Classic concert series. Buffett will perform on July 5, following Maroon 5, which will perform on Independence Day.
“These are two big headline concerts,” said Justice at a press conference announcing the performers Tuesday afternoon on the lawn of the historic Greenbrier resort. “I don’t know how it could get any better. We’re really happy about it. They’re going to be two terrific concerts.”
Buffett, who has become a pop culture legend with songs like “Margaritaville,” “Come Monday” and “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” performs sold out concerts around the country every summer for his devoted fans, known as Parrotheads. He’s recorded more than 50 albums, many of which have gone gold, platinum or multi-platinum, and he’s also been a best-selling author.
Buffett’s concert is scheduled for a 9:30 p.m. start.
Maroon 5 is a three-time Grammy Award- winning group headlined by Adam Levine, who has added to his stardom as a judge on the popular NBC television show “The Voice.”
The group has sold more than 17 million albums with songs like “Makes Me Wonder,” and “Moves Like Jagger.”
Maroon 5’s show, which will be capped off with Independence Day fireworks, is also scheduled for a 9:30 p.m. start.
To allow more fans to get to these concerts, — as well as the fifth annual Greenbrier Classic, which brings many of the world’s top golfers to the Mountain State each summer — Justice has also announced a change in the way tickets will be sold.
Fans can purchase a badge for $60, which will include seven days of golf — three practice rounds and four tournament rounds — from June 30 through July 6 at The Greenbrier’s Old White TPC Course. That badge will also include admission to the buyer’s choice of one of the two concerts…
