PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — More than 100 cases against DuPont were filed Tuesday and Wednesday in the office of the Wood County Circuit Clerk.
Attorney Harry Deitzler filed the lawsuits that allege negligence, concealment, misrepresentation and fraud, defective product, negligence, emotional distress and outrage, among other issues. As of close of business Wednesday, 152 suits had been filed in the clerk’s office and more are expected.
Deitzler said the filings are being done to get all the cases processed before the statute of limitations expires.
“We have 2,800 clients who need to be processed by the end of the year,” he said. “There is no advantage to being the first case filed or the last.”
Deitzler said his firm is in the process of contacting clients to make sure they wish to make a claim.
Deitzler said 10 bellweather cases for the first trials in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio in Columbus have been selected.
Deitzler said he has no firm time table for the latest filings to come to an end.
“I will be filing some tomorrow and some on Friday,” he said Wednesday. “We will have more next week and the week after that.”
In March Deitzler filed more than 900 cases against the company.
A listing of those filing will be published in the Parkersburg News and Sentinel…
