MILTON, W.Va. — Much has changed in the glass-making business over the past century and hundreds of companies have gone by the wayside, but Blenko Glass in Milton has survived thanks to its dedication to old methods and what a company official calls its “split personality.”
“Things have changed in the glass-making industry, but we have stuck to our tradition of making handmade glass products,” said Dean Six, Blenko Glass Co.’s vice president for marketing and sales, last week as the company prepared for its annual Festival of Glass that concluded Saturday.
Besides that old-fashioned glass-making approach, the company’s “split personality” has helped Blenko Glass persevere over 100 years when others haven’t.
“When one of the personalities is not working, the other can carry the business…
