TRIADELPHIA — A newly constructed Marriott Fairfield Inn and Suites hotel is open at The Highlands, and it is just one of many projects expects to sprout this summer at the development.
The hotel and adjacent conference center are next to the West Liberty University Highlands Center, with construction on the project nearly complete. On Monday, workers could be seen finishing up the interior work in the conference center.
“The hotel is open now,” said Ohio County Commissioner Randy Wharton, who serves as president of the Ohio County Development Authority that operates The Highlands. “The conference center for all practical purposes is nearing completion. There has been one event there already. Others are scheduled.”
The parking lot outside the hotel and conference center is finished, and landscaping has been placed. The parking and landscaping work had to be done before the hotel could open, according to Wharton.
The hotel building consists of 60,000 square feet, four stories and 105 rooms. It extends into a 6,700-square-foot connector building, which then leads into a 4,100-square-foot main conference hall.
And Wharton said there is more happening at The Highlands…
