WHEELING, W.Va. — Wheeling Jesuit University kicked off the start of the 2017 academic year with a 29 percent increase in new students entering the university this fall.
On Thursday, WJU welcomed 275 new students to campus. This day has become an annual tradition at WJU.
Organized by the Office of Student Life, an army of volunteers, made up of students, faculty, employees and alumni, help the incoming class unload cars and move their belongings into the students’ rooms. The Rev. James Fleming, S.J., WJU president, spent the morning walking through the halls welcoming the new students and their families to campus — and calmed down some nervous parents as well.
This year’s incoming class represents 23 states and 11 countries…
