MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Zackquill Morgan got his moment on Monday, June 20.
The day that was West Virginia’s birthday was also the day the statue honoring the founder of Morgantown was unveiled.
Morgan was a Revolutionary War veteran who founded the city in 1785.
His statue, created by local sculptor Jamie Lester, stands on the plaza of the public safety building.
“I hope that people will stop and look in his eyes,” Lester said.
“I want to feel that he’s representing them. Today, at least for a little while, we’re all Morgans.”
