Monroe County team wins Lego award in St. Louis

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — A team of Monroe County middle school students, and their toy Lego robot, have returned to West Virginia after picking up a first place award for their “core values” in international competition in St. Louis last month.

The Boa Constructors, a 4-H robotics team from Mountain View Middle School in Union, will hold an open house this Satur-day in the Monroe County seat to talk with the public about its experiences — and perhaps to inspire other students to form teams.

The team, after winning the state championship in December, was among more than 105 teams from various points on the globe that participated in the First Lego League World Championships, meeting in the Edward Jones Dome from April 27-30…
