WELCH, W.Va. — McDowell County Sheriff’s Department is following suit with other regional law enforcement departments in placing “In God We Trust” on their police cruisers.
“We need all the protection we can get, nothing wrong with asking God to protect us,” McDowell County Sheriff Martin West said.
The Sheriff Department placed the phrase on approximately 17 cruisers. “All the marked ones,” McDowell County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. James Muncy Jr. said.
West said that the response to the phrase on the cruisers has been positive. “We’ve had a good response,” West said. “Several people called wanting to pay for it. They’re still calling in.”
