BECKLEY, W.Va. — A piece of Raleigh County property described as “the perfect location” for the New River Gorge Regional Development Authority’s Mega Site is on the table after the official bid opening Tuesday morning.
James C. Justice Companies Inc., the lone bidder, offered up 2,450 acres of land that stretches from Ghent to Crab Orchard to the Shady Spring District.
Justice said Tuesday afternoon that what he wants from and for the site is “real simple.”
“I want to do anything and everything I can to bring jobs to West Virginia,” he said.
An enthusiastic supporter of the Mega Site, Justice said he “wants good stuff for West Virginia.” And he thinks this project is just that.
“Everything starts with a job,” he noted. The Mega Site could bring thousands of jobs to the area, he said, which would in turn provide more money for education, and would solder West Virginia’s fragmented families.
“(West Virginia’s) families are in Charlotte, they’re in Denver, all across the country because they had to go there to get a job,” Justice said.
While several details still must be ironed out, Justice said he’s ready to start.
“I can promise I’ll work my hind end off to make sure this happens,” he said…
