Indoor shooting range planned for Huntington

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Huntington City Council has taken the first step in clearing the way for a $3 million investment in an indoor shooting range in the city’s west end.

High Noon LLC, a company based in Wheelersburg, Ohio, is pursuing construction of a 12,000-square-foot indoor shooting range at Commerce Park off Madison Avenue. On Monday, the council had first reading of revisions to Part 13, Article 1327 of the codified ordinances of the city of Huntington in regard to weapons and explosives.

“It’s something I’m very excited about because of the statistical data that I have been provided,” said Councilman Bill Rosenberger, who represents District 2 where the range would be located. “People come to these things for training, competitions and they come from hundreds of miles away. I think this is going to be huge. This ordinance is a good first step.”

The language of the ordinance is for the purpose of permitting the discharging of firearms within the city for a licensed indoor shooting range…
