The non-denominational chapel will feature blue- and green-toned stained glass windows with images of rolling hills, like the Allegheny Mountains that give The Greenbrier resort its scenic backdrop. The chapel, which will seat 470 people, will have an elegant country feel with white wooden walls and an exposed wood cathedral-style ceiling.
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — The Greenbrier has become one of West Virginia’s top wedding destinations over the past century. It has all the elegant ballrooms, fine dining and breathtaking views a bride could ask for on her big day.
Though one thing’s been missing for a while: a wedding chapel.
Jim Justice is changing that, and just in time for his daughter’s wedding.
“We should have built a chapel here. The first thing I should have built,” Justice said. “I’m not proud of myself that it wasn’t, but it just kind of seemed like we always got busy doing something else. But we’re really excited about it.”
A new wedding chapel is under construction at the foot of the historic Presidents’ Cottage Museum and Paradise Row Legacy Cottages on the grounds of The Greenbrier resort. Justice said it broke ground around 30 days ago and will be complete before his daughter’s wedding on Sept. 5.
Jill Justice will marry Lewisburg attorney Adam Long at the chapel. The couple will move back to White Sulphur Springs from Blacksburg, Va., after they’re wed.
