BECKLEY, W.Va. — Carrie Tilley and Nicole Holliday were pumping gas at the Go-Mart on Robert C. Byrd Drive on Thursday afternoon.
Both woman said they are saddened to see the price of gas inching up, but are not complaining — yet.
“I’m sad to see the prices going back up, but at $2.20 a gallon it is still affordable,” said Tilley.
Holliday agreed, saying she “can still fill up without worrying about what you are going to cut out (expense-wise) for the week.”
After a 123-day slide, gas prices began to creep up earlier this week. The national average is $2.11 for a gallon of regular unleaded. In West Virginia, that same gallon cost an average of $2.25. In Beckley, the cost has gone up 22 cents a gallon since Monday, according toWestVirginiagasprices.com
