Fairmont State to raise tuition, fees by 5 percent

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — The Fairmont State University Board of Governors unanimously voted Thursday to raise tuition and fees by 5 percent.

Tuition for undergraduate resident students will increase in the 2016-17 school year by $165 per semester, for undergraduate non-resident students by $348 per semester, for graduate resident students by $178 per semester and for graduate non-residents students by $382 per semester, according to materials provided at Thursday’s BOG meeting.

The BOG also approved an increase in room rates and meal plans. Room rates will increase 4.5 percent and meal plan rates will increase 3 percent.

The BOG will also start assessing a $25 application fee to undergraduate students, increase the graduate student application fee by $10, assess a transcript processing fee of $10, increase the priority transcript processing fee by $9 and increase the ID card replacement fee by $5.
