Logan native Amanda Whitman worked to foster and facilitate adoptions for over 500 cats over the last year. Whitman is currently studying in the pre-veterinary program at the University of Charleston.
LOGAN, W.Va. — In August, 2015, The Logan Banner reported story of Amanda Whitman — a veterinary student who, at that time, had worked for foster and facilitate adoptions for over 300 cats and dogs.
Since graduating Logan High School in 2013, Whitman has attained an associates degree in science from Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College and worked at the Logan Animal Hospital with Dr. Siegal for over a year.
Whitman currently studies in the pre-veterinary program at the University of Charleston.
During an interview with The Logan Banner, Whitman noted it was the act of rescuing her cat Elvis during a trip to Graceland that spurred her interest in rescuing animals.
Siegal commented Whitman makes the hour-long journey to Logan County from Charleston most weekends and oftentimes heads directly to the local animal shelter to see if they have any cats available for adoption.
