BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — A recent increase in bear activity near Tiffany Manor in Bluefield has attracted the attention of the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources.
Food being placed in trash bins, and the fact that there is 140 trash containers at Tiffany Manor, is a part of the problem, City Manager Dane Rideout said at Tuesday’s Bluefield Board of Directors meeting.
“We know there is a bear problem at Tiffany Manor,” Rideout said. “We are very much aware of it. (Police Chief) Dennis (Dillow) spends a lot of time over there. Unfortunately, there is that old adage that when you feed the animals they become comfortable around you.
