KINGWOOD — Hovatter’s Wildlife Zoo opened for their 24th season on April 16. Visitors will notice new areas at the entrance of the zoo under construction to house hooved animals from Africa on the right, with wildebeests on the left for visitors to view now.
“I have always said I wanted to own a zoo, and everyone laughed me off when I was younger,” Bryan Hovatter, Hovatter’s Wildlife Zoo owner, operator and namesake of the Preston County zoo said. “I think if you can do anything if you put your mind to it.”
Hovatter said he always had a special interest in wild exotic animals, and purchased his first three acres of land when he was a sophomore in high school.
