Meetings on W.Va. pipeline projects coming up

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — It’s not too late to plan to attend one or more meetings regarding proposed pipeline projects in West Virginia. Some meetings are being scheduled by landowners and interested parties, while others are being held by Dominion, which is overseeing Pipeline construction.

Meetings throughout the region include a meeting at 2 p.m. Saturday at the West Virginia University Jackson’s Mill in the West Virginia Building. The meeting will be co-hosted by the Greenbrier River Watershed Association and the Mountain Lakes Preservation Alliance.

“We are working with them to produce this meeting,” Mountain Lakes Preservation Alliance member April Keating said. “The woman that is doing the pipeline outreach is Elise Keaton. She’s going to be the main speaker at this meeting, I believe.”

Keaton, the outreach and education coordinator of the Greenbrier River Watershed Association, will discuss the various proposed natural gas pipelines that are anticipated to impact Lewis, Harrison, Upshur, Randolph, Greenbrier and Pocahontas county residents.

“Our group invited them to come and do this meeting to support the landowners,” Keating said. “It was to inform and support landowners and concerned citizens. There are many issues around the pipeline that people don’t realize.

“There’s environmental issues, safety issues, legal issues, land-use issues, compensation issues. There’s lots and lots of issues besides just jobs and employment…
