WVGOP comment on Bill Clinton visit to West Virginia

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia Republican Party Chairman Conrad Lucas released this statement on the already tumultuous visit of the coal-hating Clinton family to West Virginia this week.

“We are proud of the peaceful protesters, Democrats and Republicans alike, who joined today in Logan and Charleston to protest the visit of Bill Clinton and his teammates in the War On Coal, Joe Manchin and Earl Ray Tomblin.

It’s clear that the policies of Obama have destroyed the coal economy of both southern and northern West Virginia on purpose. Joe Manchin and his pals in D.C. have been at the right hand of Obama and now Hillary Clinton as they promise to destroy the greatest natural resource God has granted us in the Mountain State.

It was telling when Logan’s Mayor asked for Clinton not to come to Logan. It was clear when elected Democrat officials stayed away from the event in droves. And it will be far more lonely for the coal haters this fall at the polls when thousands of former Democrats join our team at the polls to reject decades of losing brought to West Virginia by their former Party and this President.

Every day, from every unemployment line to every bankruptcy court to every boarded up former home or church, we are reminded what these people did to West Virginia.

At the ballot box, we will make sure they never forget that free people live here and will choose conservative Republicans to ensure this state’s Comeback Story.”
