CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia’s next state health officer will be tasked with devising a plan for school vaccine exemptions.
The state Bureau for Public Health and the state health officer are required to submit guidance to the office of Gov. Patrick Morrisey by Feb. 1, according to an executive order signed by the governor on Tuesday.
The guidance will include “a proposal for any necessary legislation and rules to enable and facilitate a statewide exemption to the compulsory school immunization” required by state code for “objections based on religious and moral beliefs.”
