CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The state Senate approved a bill Thursday that would create an intermediate appeals court, despite strong objections from Democrats.
The Senate voted on party lines, 23-11, to pass Senate Bill 341 following lengthy debate.
The bill would create an intermediate court between the level of circuit court and the state Supreme Court to hear civil appeals, appeals of workers’ compensation claims, abuse and neglect cases and some other administrative appeals.
