CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WV News) — The issue of whether or not students should be allowed to have their cell phones during school has been a hot topic for several years, and the discussion is expected to resurface during this year’s legislative session.
Several counties in West Virginia, including Monongalia, Ohio and Berkeley, have already implemented restrictions on the use of cell phones during the school day.
Ryan Saxe, superintendent of schools in Berkeley County, has seen positive results from the cell phone policy the county put in place.
“We implemented a policy on cell phones and device usage during the school day for K-12,” he said. “It has gone extremely well.”
