West Virginia legislators announce session priorities

CHARLESTON, W.Va.  — The House of Delegates Wednesday by voice vote adopted House Resolution 1 authorizing the appointment and payment of employees for the coming year, which the Republican leadership says continues its efforts to streamline state government.

The House has saved $1.26 million over the last three years Republicans have controlled the House, according to Speaker Tim Armstead, R-Kanawha. The Legislature convened on Wednesday.

“We know that every dollar spent by government is a dollar that’s been taken out of the pockets of our hard-working taxpayers, and we want to make sure they’re getting the most out of that money,” Armstead said.
