MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Four legislative seat openings to represent West Virginia have become an official race.
At the federal level, Republican candidates include current U.S. Rep. Evan Jenkins, from Huntington, who will face Thomas (Tom) Willis, from Martinsburg, in the May primary. Willis and Jenkins are vying for a seat in the U.S. Senate, currently held by U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin.
In the race for the U.S. House of Representatives 2nd Congressional seat, incumbent Republican Alex X. Mooney, from Charles Town, will face off against Democratic challenger Talley Sergent from Charleston. Mooney officially filed his candidacy Friday and Sergent, the former West Virginia representative for Hilliary Clinton’s presidential election campaign in 2016, filed Jan. 8.
