The Register-Herald, The Inter-Mountain, The Hampshire Review and the Shepherdstown Chronicle take home General Excellence in Editorial awards
West Virginia Press Association
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Press Association Advertising and Editorial Contest is in the books for another year!
Thank you to all those who submitted entries and congratulations to all the winners. What a talented group of people we have in our industry.
Each year, we hold this contest to recognize the best of the year’s advertising and editorial content. First, second and third place awards go to the top three entries in each of four divisions. The divisions are based on circulation.
Entries are judged by other state press associations on a contest website. This year, the judges were from the North Dakota Newspaper Association, and West Virginia Press judged their contest earlier this year.
Points are awarded for each winning entry and the newspaper with the most points in each division wins the Best Advertising or Best Editorial General Excellence Award for that paper. These are announced at the Advertising and Editorial Award programs. The newspaper with the highest points across both categories is named Newspaper of the Year.
A Best Advertisement of the Year and Best Photo of the Year are also announced at the luncheons.
