CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A bill implementing work requirements for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is one step closer to becoming law.
H.B. 4001 was passed Thursday evening by the Senate Health and Human Resources Committee. The bill was at the amendment stage Thursday evening and should be up for passage in the Senate today.
The bill would make work requirements mandatory by Oct. 1, 2021. The requirements would be phased in gradually, based on unemployment rates in each county.
