CHARLESTON, W.Va. — During discussion of the state budget Tuesday evening, Democrats questioned the Senate Finance Chairman Craig Blair, R-Berkeley, about why Republican leadership hadn’t included 5 percent state employee pay raises in their budget.
Senators were discussing amendments the Senate had made to the House budget. The House budget included those raises, but the Senate’s version does not.
Senate Minority Leader Roman Prezioso, D-Marion, asked Blair whether Republican leadership would agree to add raises if the House and Senate meet in conference committee to come to a compromise.
