CLEVELAND, Ohio, — U.S. Secret Service said Monday that no guns would be allowed at July’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland, effectively nullifying a petition that has gathered more than 42,000 signatures supporting allowing people to openly carry firearms at the event, according to a report by The Washington Post.
The Secret Service said only law enforcement officers would be able to carry guns at the convention. None of the GOP presidential candidates — Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and John Kasich — backed the petition. [The Washington Post]
