CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WV News) — Clay County’s Roger Hanshaw was elected Wednesday to a fifth term as speaker of the West Virginia House of Delegates.
Hanshaw received 84 votes from the 100-member body, and Minority Leader Sean Hornbuckle, D-Cabell, received eight.
Hanshaw, who was nominated by Rep. David Kelly, R-Tyler, thanked House members for their continued confidence in his leadership.
“I want to thank you for that privilege again today,” he said. “It was a humbling honor the first time five elections ago in 2018 when this body gave me the opportunity, but it’s been an even greater honor each time since then.”
