WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., chair of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee’s (EPW) Clean Air and Nuclear Safety Subcommittee, issued the following statement regarding today’s signing of the international climate agreement that was reached in Paris last year:
“I’m extremely disappointed that the president signed this agreement, promising funding that cannot be delivered and threatening our affordable, reliable energy and jobs. While West Virginians continue to suffer tremendous losses as a result of the administration’s harmful climate agenda, the president is doubling down on destructive policies that are crushing our economy and making it harder for families to make ends meet. As chair of the Senate EPW Committee’s Clean Air and Nuclear Safety Subcommittee, I will continue conducting oversight of the president’s climate agenda, and holding the administration accountable for policies that will do further harm.”
