New Year’s Eve celebrations set for Bluefield, Princeton

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — Downtown festivities featuring a Lemon Drop in Bluefield and a ball drop with multiple shows in Princeton are among the options this New Year’s Eve for area residents saying goodbye to the year 2024 and ringing in the start of 2025.

In downtown Bluefield, the community has been invited to participate in the New Year’s Eve Annual Lemon Drop.

This event takes place Tuesday Dec. 31 on Commerce Street in downtown Bluefield up the street from the Granada Theatre, the city of Bluefield announced Friday.

The festivities begin at 11 p.m. with a DJ, hot cocoa served by the Beautification Committee, followed by the Lemon Drop at midnight complete with fireworks to usher in 2025. The event is free and open to the public.

In Princeton, the 12th Annual Downtown Countdown – Winterfest Celebration on New Year’s Eve is coming Dec. 31 to Mercer Street. Downtown Countdown festivities will start at 8:30 p.m. and keep going until midnight. Mercer Street will be closed to traffic for the evening, with the celebration centered around Dick Copeland Town Square, according to Lori McKinney with The RiffRaff Arts Collective.
